Welcome to the February e-newsletter for 2010!

February sees a number of important dates including: Valentine’s Day and Midmar Mile weekend. This year, both of these fall on the same weekend!

There are a number of special buffets planned for the Midmar Mile weekend; these will be made available to the public as well. So if you are swimming, why not do some quick carbo-loading at Fern Hill?

Our Training College has received its new intake of students for 2010, so there will be many new faces to greet you when next you visit us.

Finally, we must apologise for having to cancel our Burns Day celebratory concert last month. Unfortunately, we were let down by the performers and dance groups who were going to add to this special day.

Midmar Mile weekend is one of our busiest – and for obvious reasons! The hotel has been fully booked for this weekend for a very long time. However, there are a number of special, carbo-loading buffets planned throughout the weekend. The first of these will be on Friday evening; there will be another on Saturday at lunch time. This year, we will be hosting two Valentine’s specials seeing as how it falls on a Sunday. There will still be a Sunday lunch carvery, but it will be a special Valentine’s Day carvery with roses for all women on arrival. The cost will be R150 per person. In addition, there will be a second carvery in the evening, for R120 per person. There will be live music at both, and plenty of romantic decorations. Fern Hill Hotel is delighted to welcome Chef Marion Sutherland to the hotel team. Marion has taken over the position of Executive Chef and has already been producing some fantastic new dishes that will be made available on the new à la carte menu from 15 February. In addition, there are plans to implement a special Pensioners’ Menu in the near future; more information will follow in another newsletter.

Don’t forget that Fern Hill Hotel has recently added a wood-fired pizza oven to Cobwebs pub. We have produced a varied pizza menu with the best pricing in the Midlands. Pizzas are constructed and cooked right in front of you while you relax in the pub!
In addition, on Wednesday evenings you can enjoy a FREE Castle draft or a FREE Sarita Cider or a FREE soft drink from our soda fountain with every pizza purchased! (This special does not include take-aways.)
